Barcelona 1929-1992

The fact that Catalan contemporary architecture in recent years has presented a big impulse and a high quality cannot be considered as a punctual or transitional fact of the moment. It is, without a doubt, the natural consequence of a large trajectory, connected to a tradition of building and to technical means; the exponent of our culture.

The civil society in first place and the public institutions in a second, have contributed in a decisive way to the consecution of a country, which architecture has acquired an international dimension. This architecture, with its double aspect of producing industry and above all cultural manifestation, has permitted one to access an international level by the recognition of our diversity and quality.

In Catalonia there have been memorable moments of architecture and consequently Barcelona summarizes them in its territory, showing a significant process and a trajectory connected to the present.

The exhibition shows a look over catalan architecture from the Mies Pavillion in the Worldfair 1929 to the architecture of the olimpic Barcelona, passing in scale from a particular building to the big city.
